You know you're a child of the 80's when....

...you're watching the local news only to learn that one of the suspects in the recent bank robbery is named Bryan Adams, you find yourself suddenly singing Summer of 69 while thinking: my God has his career come to this?

in all seriousness though, we did just have a horrible robbery the other day where a New York State Cop was killed (not without trying to take out the robbers though, as two of them are in the hospital now). My prayers are with the officer's family. I can't imagine kissing your husband goodbye that morning sending him off to a normal day of work, knowing that there is a chance he might not come back. Tragic and heroic.

If we could all take a moment for reflection, those of you reading this blog. A moment to not be angry at the trooper who pulled you over for your purposely ignoring the law and pushing 55 to a cool 72. A moment to not roll your eyes when you see them walking down the college streets on a busy friday night, checking IDs on the students. A moment to just think, my god these guys might have to step up someday.

I crack on the cops as much as anyone. I gripe that they never seem to be around when you want one (like when some idiot has parked in the middle of a one way street) and yet always appear in your rearview when you're running late. But my Uncle was a cop and i have friends who are thinking of becoming members of the police force. All i can say is, thank you. Thank you for trying. Thank you for giving up your life to try and stop a guy from taking a whole 1,900 dollars... just doesn't seem like enough to me. I'd have let them go and let the insurance companies take care of it. But that's why I'm not a cop. Anyway, thank you sir and I'm sorry.

Now.... With that said, it's back to the donut shop cop jokes for me. Hey, we tease because we love... um until you give me a ticket that is. ;)
